Announcement Bar
One line across the top or the bottom of every page, with a link if you want one. It starts and stops when you say, and stays closed for anyone who closed it.
Live today, in every Workspace.
- One script
- Added to your site once. Announcement Bar and every widget after it arrive through the same tag.
- Where it appears
- Placed for you.
- Built to be read
- Built to WCAG 2.2 AA in both themes. It takes your site's font, and the colour and corners you choose.
What the announcement bar does
- One line, said well
- The Studio counts as you write, and tells you when a message stops fitting on one line on a phone.
- A link, if it helps
- Add a call to action — a label and the address it goes to — or leave the bar as a message on its own.
- Scheduled
- Set when it starts and when it ends. Before the start and after the end, it is simply not there.
- Dismissible, and remembered
- A visitor who closes it does not see it again, on any page — until you publish again, or go back to an earlier version, and then it shows once more.
- Top or bottom
- It spans the edge you choose and sits over the page, so nothing on your site moves when it arrives.
- Your colours
- Your accent, or a quiet neutral tone, in light, in dark, or following the visitor's own setting.
On your site in three steps
- Write it in the Studio
Your message, a link if you want one, the edge it sits on, and when it runs.
- Publish and schedule
Publishing writes a version with its schedule in it. Every earlier one stays in the Studio's history.
- Add one line, once
One line on your site, and that is all: a bar needs nothing else on the page.
Questions about the announcement bar
Something else? Write to us at [email protected].
Will it push my page down?
No. It sits over the top or bottom edge, so nothing on your page moves when it arrives. If your site has a sticky header, putting the bar at the bottom keeps the two apart.
Does a closed bar come back?
Not for that visitor, on any page of your site, until you publish again. Every publish — and going back to an earlier version — is a new version, and it shows again, including to people who closed the last one.
Can I schedule it for a sale?
Yes. Give it a start and an end; before and after, the bar is not on the page at all.
Will it slow my site down?
No. It loads after your page has appeared, so your visitors never wait for it, and it sits over the edge of the page, so nothing moves when it arrives.
Can I use it with other widgets?
Yes. Every widget arrives through the same line on your site. A widget in a corner sits above a bottom bar rather than on it.
